Honest burger in hand

It’s been 11 years and we’d like to think we’re now pretty good at burgers and chips.

It’s been a bit of a blur, a lot of hard work, but that’s been half the fun. Good enough just isn’t good enough here. We don’t mean to brag but we’re all about top quality beef, the best potatoes and good times.

Don’t just take our word for it though, we’ll let our food and people do the talking.

After all, we’re Just Being Honest…

From day one, we wanted to make the best British burgers on any menu, anywhere. So we spent time getting to know the best butchers in London.
And we’re butchers too.

We’ve opened our own butchery so we can make the burgers we’d always dreamed of. Our way. From scratch.

Our beef comes from British native breed cows farmed in Great Britain & Northern Ireland.

They’re grass-fed and well looked after with space to roam in the fields during spring, summer and autumn and only see a barn when it’s too cold outside during winter.

We’ve also got our own butchery, making our burgers from scratch every single day.

Most burgers are minced – at least twice, often more.

Meat gets broken down, but a lot of good stuff gets lost (and a lot of bad stuff stays in too).

At our butchery we chop our beef. Chopping holds the flavour in and keeps the meat coarse (not mushy) and really tender. So our burgers cut like butter, but stay together.

We support 6 farming families directly through Honest Farming

We’ve been working with Grassroots Farming to promote better farming practices that help to make a positive difference to our environment. It’s called Regenerative Agriculture which is focused on regenerating biodiversity and boosting soil health. The farming families we support are getting paid a premium so that their farms are commercially viable while maintaining strict regenerative agricultural practices

We could just use frozen chips, but that wouldn’t be Honest.

Our chips are always fresh, and they come with every burger as standard – because who’s having a burger without chips.

It’s been that way since our first restaurant in Brixton opened its doors, simply because we wanted everyone to try our homemade rosemary salted chips. Just great chips. Made by us.

From the start, we wanted everything to taste homemade.

Which means it has to be homemade. So we make as much as we can ourselves, in our kitchens.

Our chips, rosemary salt, veggie fritters, lemonade, pickles, relish, and Honest sauces are all made by hand, by us. Now we’ve got our own butchers, we’ve got burgers covered too.

Smash + Grab

We’ve taken all the great things about Honest and smashed them together with everything people love about food on-the-go – fast, easy & affordable.

Our Smash + Grab menu features Cheese, Bacon, BBQ, Hot and ‘Tribute’ smash burgers all homemade with beef from our butchery. Also enjoy a cereal-fried chicken burger with BBQ mayo, Plant burgers, as well as crispy chicken tenders and milkshakes. Honest’s Rosemary Salted Chips now also come fully loaded with cheese sauce, bacon bits, + sweet onions.

The story

Tom & Phil  met working at a restaurant in Brighton, while at university. We loved restaurants. We talked about them, worked in them, ate in them, and thought ‘we could do better than them’.

We decided to open Honest over a pint in our favourite pub. And that’s what we wanted it to be: a pull-up-a-chair local with good people and good food.
