It’s been 11 years now and we like to think we’ve gotten pretty good at burgers and chips. We’re all about top quality beef, the best potatoes and good times. Don’t just take our word for it though, we’ll let our food and people do the talking. After all, we’re Just Being Honest…
We knew from day one that we wanted to use British beef, and certain (fattier, more expensive) cuts to make our burgers juicier and extra tender. But no-one else made burgers like ours, so in the early days butcher after butcher sent us on our way.
The first Honest was us cooking at a friend’s party in a tent in a field in Brighton. We weren’t trained chefs, we just loved cooking. On Brixton’s opening day, Tom flipped burgers and Phil waited tables. Six years on, we’re still here, still cooking, still learning.
We’ve taken the classic French brasserie dish and do what we do best – put it in a burger.
The genius of steak frites is its simplicity. But the meat and potatoes must be top quality. At our Honest butchery, the beef is chopped, not minced, for a more natural texture that eats like a steak.
Our guilty pleasure, Boursin® cheese, ups the decadence with a creamy, garlicky hit, while homemade steak sauce (béarnaise cut with Dijon, thyme, parsley and chives) is fresh and sharp enough to cut through all the meaty richness.
